ASCEND

The College of Arts and Sciences Newsletter

Spring 2025

Dear Friends,

This installment of ASCEND continues our tradition of highlighting concerns for issues that affect all people. Kaiya Provost, PhD, assistant professor of biology, and K.C. Rondello, MD, clinical associate professor of public health and emergency management, share their expertise in a timely story about avian flu. You'll also learn about Monica Morales Hernandez, assistant teaching professor of mathematics, who overcame cultural stereotypes to excel in mathematics and now strives to make the subject fun and reachable for students.

We also continue our regular “What Can You Do With a Degree in ___?” alumni series, this time putting the spotlight on two alums of Adelphi's environmental studies and sciences program who have gone on to achieve success taking different career paths.

As always, I'm thankful to you for staying connected with the College of Arts and Sciences. Follow us on Instagram @adelphi_cas to see what's happening in real time. One important upcoming event: Giving Day on April 9. We hope you will consider supporting the College and our work to provide transformative experiences for our students.

Sincerely,

Vincent Wei-cheng Wang, PhD

Dean
