Dear Derick,
After growing up in Washington Heights, in Manhattan, I felt like
Garden City was an oasis. I loved Adelphi's smaller school environment and strong soccer program. My four years there were incredibly memorable. I was part of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the soccer team, forming lifelong friendships. Three of my soccer teammates were ushers at my wedding in 1976.
Adelphi prepared me well for my future. After graduating, I attended Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. My wife, Sue, and I then moved to San Francisco for my residency and later to Atlanta, where we lived for 38 years. I ran a private podiatry practice from 1980 to 2016, when we moved to Colorado to be closer to our two daughters. We love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, and I also fly fish. I continued my passion for soccer by refereeing until my 63rd
birthday.
Last year, I reconnected with Adelphi for my 50th reunion and joined the Class of 1973 reunion committee. Seeing and hearing from my classmates inspired me to give back to the school. I’m thrilled to join the Adelphi University Alumni Advisory Council and hope to offer valuable insights and become an integral part of the council.
I've loved reading each month's newsletter and hope you will enjoy our July edition. See you on campus soon!
Warm Regards,
Alan Rothstein ’73, DPM Alumni Advisory Council Member #StayGold
