Dear Fellow Panthers,
I was moved when Adelphi asked me to write this month’s opening message to our alumni in honor of Veterans Day last week. I'm honored to be able to share what the day means to me and how my service and education have shaped my life.
I come from a family of service—uncles who fought in World War II, cousins who wore sharp uniforms, and a father who, though he lost sight in one eye, still delivered food to troop ships on the New York piers. Their stories inspired me to join the U.S. Air Force after high school. My four years took me around the world, including to Southeast Asia, where I fueled rescue aircraft during the Vietnam War.
Coming home in 1972 was different from my uncles’ homecomings from earlier conflicts—there were no parades or handshakes for Vietnam veterans. But decades later, a simple “thank-you” from a fellow veteran and the pride in my granddaughter’s eyes remind me of the power of a few words of appreciation. I invite you to read "What Veterans Day Means to Me."
As we head into Thanksgiving, I hope you have many blessings to be thankful for this season.

An Inspiring Alumna on the TEDx Stage
Adelphi double alumna, Emmy Award winner and disability advocate Peri Finkelstein ’22, MBA ’23 recently took the TEDx stage at Texas Woman’s University. “Always Wanting More & Stepping Out of Line” featured narration by actress and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik, PhD.
