Dear Friends, Colleagues and Students,
I am delighted to share the College of Nursing and Public Health (CNPH) fall newsletter, showcasing the dedication and innovative spirit that define our community.
You’ll read about our faculty’s crucial work in developing new models for older adult care, highlighting our commitment to the evolving needs of our aging population. We also celebrate the inspiring journey of a student successfully navigating motherhood and the cutting-edge field of healthcare informatics, illustrating the diverse and ambitious talent that thrives here. Both stories underscore our mission: to educate compassionate, competent and career-ready professionals who are prepared to lead in the transformation of health and wellness.
CNPH is committed to excellence and a spirit of inquiry and to providing our students the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to practice in an ever-changing environment. This year, our Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series is focused on the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, educating faculty, staff and students about its positive and negative aspects and preparing them with best practices.
I’d also like to congratulate Associate Professor Zainab Osakwe, PhD, on her induction into the American Academy of Nursing—and on a personal note, I’m delighted to share that I was inducted as a fellow of the National League for Nursing Academy of Nursing Education. We join the ranks of Professor Edmund J.Y. Pajarillo, PhD, who is a fellow of both prestigious organizations. Our many faculty who are fellows of the New York Academy of Medicine are also a testament to the distinction of our extraordinary CNPH educators.
Thank you for reading and for your continued support and connection.
Sincerely, |
