Adelphi University New York
From My Desk President Christine M. Riordan

Dear Friend,

The Spring 2025 semester at Adelphi is off to a fast start, and I look forward to seeing how each member of our community will create their own path and achieve their goals. I’m pleased to share some of their stories as we begin our Black History Month celebration and recognize extraordinary student and alumni success.

I’m proud to highlight Adelphi’s seventh consecutive Newman Civic Fellow and share her inspiring path to leadership from Jamaica to our campus. A dedicated alum and American soccer legend heads to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. An impressive undergraduate student researcher uncovers the surprising and important history behind one of Garden City, New York’s most recognizable buildings. Chair of the Adelphi University Board of Trustees Marc Strachan ’81 explains why he gives back to the University that launched his career. And an increase of more than 30 percent in international graduate students this year shows that Adelphi provides a transformative learning experience to global scholars.

Be sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming signature events this semester, including the eighth annual Women’s Leadership Conference in March—a powerful and innovative networking event during Women’s History Month. I hope to see you there!

All the best,
