From My Desk President Christine M. Riordan

Dear Friend,

Adelphi University is at the forefront of discovery—tackling today’s most critical global issues through unique angles and developing groundbreaking solutions. I’m pleased to share this year’s Academic and Creative Research Magazine, which takes a closer look at the common threads that connect our research disciplines and the uncommon impact of our work. Inside, you will find stories of faculty and student collaborations that reach communities in need far beyond the boundaries of our campus.

I’m also proud to share more highlights this month of Adelphi’s strategic focus on academic distinction, diversity and sustainability. For the sixth straight year, we are one of INSIGHT Into Diversity’s Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award winners. Our environmental science graduate students take on local and national projects to improve the health of our planet. Our faculty elevates the art history of international cultures. And with Veterans Day approaching, one alumna uses cutting-edge technology to benefit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through a highly selective White House initiative.

With midterms already behind us and the holiday season right around the corner, I’m grateful for the hard work of everyone at Adelphi that allows us to advance our mission to transform students’ lives. Together, we are growing, learning and preparing for an extraordinary future.

All the best,

"Common Threads, Uncommon Impact":  Adelphi’s 2023 Academic and Creative Research Magazine
The most important issues of our day can be explored through many lenses. In this year’s research magazine, Adelphi faculty do just that: exploring climate change from the perspectives of psychology and social work, immigration through the lenses of education and the arts, and politics through the angles of philosophy and business. Learn about our faculty’s fascinating, and often surprising, discoveries.
