From My Desk President Christine M. Riordan

Dear Friend,

Commencement is always one of my favorite days of the year. As we join together to celebrate our graduates, it reminds us how many lives we impact through education. I’m so proud of the Adelphi Class of 2023 for achieving their goals and persevering through unique challenges. To highlight this year’s ceremony, Chobani founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, our honorary degree recipient, shared his inspiring story of how Adelphi allowed him to pursue the American dream.

This month, I’m also happy to share news of Adelphi’s international partnership with Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus, our sixth straight Newman Civic Fellow and one professor’s innovative initiative to improve equity in graduate programs. And as we recognize Pride Month, I’m proud that our campus ranks as one of the most welcoming in the country for LGBTQIA+ students.

There are still a few days to save your seat at our annual
President’s Gala on June 10. I hope you will join us in supporting our students and the bold vision of our Momentum 2 strategic plan.

All the best,

"Adelphi Was My Ellis Island."
The Commencement address from Adelphi’s honorary degree recipient, Chobani CEO and humanitarian Hamdi Ulukaya, was deeply inspiring. Hear how he arrived at Adelphi speaking almost no English; "Hello, my name is Hamdi" was his entire vocabulary. He went on to live the American dream, while becoming the voice of advocacy for refugees around the world.
