Dear Friend,
After what felt like the longest winter in history, summer is finally approaching. What could be better than enjoying the beautiful weather while reconnecting with our Adelphi family?
Adelphi will always hold a special place in my heart. I met some of my very best friends on campus—through the Honors College and the dance team. I always knew I wanted to stay involved with the community that gave me so much.
This week, Adelphi will celebrate the graduation of more than 2,100 students from 60 countries and across an inspiring range of life experiences, from age 18 to 73. What an incredible reminder that the Adelphi journey can begin—and continue—at every stage of life. Join me in congratulating the newest members of our Adelphi alumni family!
That pride and lasting sense of connection are what inspired me to take a more active role at our alma mater. This past fall, I began my first term on the Adelphi University Alumni Advisory Council (AUAAC). It’s been a rewarding opportunity to share my perspective, reconnect with old friends and help strengthen the alumni community we all value. Applications for the next AUAAC term are now open, and I encourage you to consider the experience for yourself.
Whether you join the council, attend the upcoming golf outing or cheer on the Panthers, I hope you’ll find your own way to stay connected with us.

A Winning Season for Panther Athletics |
|
The No. 1 Adelphi men’s lacrosse team is headed to the NCAA Division II National Championship for the third consecutive year after their semifinal win over Molloy University. The Panthers will face the University of Tampa in their quest for another title on Sunday, May 24, at 4:00 p.m.
Panther pride is high across Adelphi University Athletics. Women’s lacrosse capped a remarkable 14-game win streak as NE10 Champions, women’s tennis reached the NCAA Sweet 16, men’s golf earned five All-Region selections and standout student-athletes across multiple programs continue to make headlines. |

Back to Class—55-Plus Years Later
When retired Nassau County probation officer Ed LaChapelle ’70 stopped by campus looking for ways to reconnect with his alma mater, he mentioned how much he had loved his economics classes.
Dean MaryAnne Hyland, PhD, of the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business was happy to help arrange for Ed to sit in on a class with David Machlis, PhD, associate professor of finance and economics, who has been teaching at Adelphi since 1967.
As it turns out, Ed had been in Dr. Machlis’ classroom before—more than five decades ago. It was a reunion! |
